several people of interest. live with details, just ahead. a mascot controversy in bucks county. who will win the name game? we'll take a look. boat house row. warmer today than it was yesterday. humid and rainy weather on the way for tomorrow. 4:30. good morning. this is nbc 10 news today. i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm chris kato. let's check in with meteorologist bill henley and his first alert forecast. >> temperatures have come down into the 60s. they're still falling at this hour, a few spots in the 50s, not center city. that's a live, dry view looking across the delaware. we'll be in the 80s today. mount holly is 60 and 67 in allentown. so a nice mild start and comfortable, too, as the humidity stays low. by 9:00 we'll be up to 73 degrees and at lunch time, a good deal of sunshine to push us into the 80s. and climbing at that hour. we'll go neighborhood by
neighborhood when i come back to show you who will make it into the upper 80s today. first jillian mele has traffic. good morning. >> good tuesday morning to you, bill, to you at home as well. king of prussia, route 202, very quiet. this is 202 right near the pennsylvania turnpike with the interchange at 422 and 76. all of those majors are clear right now. no accidents to report on any of the highways in pennsylvania, delaware or new jersey. i mentioned the pennsylvania turnpike. we have a few spots of construction. eastbound from virginia drive to willow grove. expect to see lane restrictions there. westbound right at norristown and right at valley forge, that's part of the overnight long-term construction that we see pretty much every morning. it is still out there, active in those spots. area bridges are clear. right now the tacony-palmyra bridge is looking good. we're waiting for a bridge opening for a ship to pass through any moment now but it hasn't happened just yet. philadelphia police detectives are talking to four
men, all persons of interest in a rittenhouse rape case. the men were taken in for questioning late last night to the special victims unit. katy zachry is there live this morning following the new developments. >> reporter: the latest word from a detective here at the special victims unit is that they anticipate charges will be filed a little later this morning. i've been call, keeping in touch with them. as soon as those charges are filed we will let you know who has been charged and for what crime. first let's go to our video. police are crediting good old-fashioned detective work for bringing these four men in. they reportedly lived together at this home at south 8th streeç and moore. last night detectives searched the home. we don't know specifically what they found inside but we do know detectives left with a couple of bikes. that's important because from new surveillance video that was released yesterday, you can see the suspect locking his bike to a bike pole, sections before following the victim. he puts his arm around her, forces her into her rittenhouse
apartment where police say she was raped several times and robbed. after the victim sat down with a sketch artist yesterday, we have two aimages of what her attacke likely looks like. she was approached at 1:20 saturday morning when she was walking home alone after being out with friends. the victim is 26 and a doctor at the university of pennsylvania. the four men who were brought in for questioning had this to tell us, their neighbors had this to tell us. >> you can't imagine the person who had done it lives next to you. it's a shame this thing happens. >> you'll hear from police here at special victims about the investigation coming up in the next half hour. the it laest is coming up. reporting live outside svu in the juniata section of philadelphia, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. 4:33. happening later today, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for a philadelphia teacher accused of having sex with a
special needs student. stephanie amato is her name. a 14-year-old student said he had sex with the 30-year-old teacher several times. amato was removed from ethan allen middle school in mayfair after those allegations were made. later this morning, education advocates and community members travel to harrisburg to ask a state legislature for more funding for philadelphia public schools. here's a live picture from city hall where the rally is scheduled for 8:00 this morning. k the superintendent says the district will also need 95 million in concessions from the teachers' union as well. the first of two school board meetings on a mascot controversy in bucks county. neshaminy will discuss the refusal of newspaper editors who refuse to print the name of the
mascot. now, a similar battle of course is playing out over the nickname of the nfl's team in washington. a federal panel ruled last week the name redskins is disparaging to native americans and its trademark should be canceled. that ruling does not force the team to change its name or logo. from the nbc 10 south jersey bureau, a new grant offers a financial boost to help the camden water front. a planning grant will ab warded to the city, stretching from the ben franklin bridge to the atlantic avenue along the delaware river. this includes camden's central business district, the entertainment district and the camden campus of rutgers university. now from our trenton bureau, today officials from mercer county highlight their successes in reducing homelessness. they're hold a roundtable discussion with people and families who were once homeless but now have a home through the county programs. a county official will speak about the programs at a conference in washington next

noon. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> somewhat less confusing is the weather today. we're stating off in the 60s. we'll see bright sunshine at times and a warm afternoon, back in the 80s later today. completely dry today. we're tracking showers and thunderstorms likely arriving tomorrow. especially likely later in the day tomorrow. 67 degrees in allentown, a few scattered clouds there, 67 in northeast philadelphia. clear skies and clear skies in south jersey, too. 62 degrees right now in millville. dry and we'll stay that way at the jersey shore. that's the frueh from the marquis de lafayette hotel.ç today this morning, showers and thunderstorms off to the north and west. those are moving to the north. won't impact us. but this is what's coming our way for tomorrow, this line of showers and thunderstorms making some progress moving through the midwest, likely to be here tomorrow afternoon. we could see heavy downpours.

4:44. this morning, philadelphia police are looking for a hit and run driver. a tan colored cadillac with handicap plates hit a man riding a bicycle and then took off. they say the victim was dragged 30 feet and had minor injuries. a former delaware county sunday school charges has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges. investigators say they traced unappropriate downloads to the computer inside his home. he told investigators he thought
he didn't do anything illegal because he didn't pay for the porn. officials broke ground yesterday on a $198 million project to widen a five-mile section of the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike. the stretch between mid county and the lansdale interchange will expand from four to six lanes. three new on and off ramps will be constructed to help alleviate congestion at the toll plaza. >> currently 65,000 vehicles per day traverse this area. by 2030 it's projected to be over 100,000 cars per day. >> a widening project south of this construction should be ready by october. that work has been going on for almost three years now. an update on breaking news. investigators still trying to figure out what caused this barn fire in berks county. skyforce 10 was over the two alarm fire in heidelberg road in
wernersvil wernersville. happening today, the national transportation safety board is set to release a report on that deadly asiana airlines crash. a primary cause is expected to be that the flight crews overrelied on automated throttle control. investigators have said that the plane was flying too slow and too low when it hit a sea wall while landing, killing throw and injuring more than 200. the head of the irs will be back in front of congress for a second day of hearings into the targeting of conservative groups. irs commissioner dismissed accusations at a rare evening hearing before a u.s. house committee. lasp)q)s were demanding to know why several years of agency e-mails are gone and cannot be retrieved. a florida woman is caught on video eating marijuana in the back seat of a police cruiser. the woman was arrested after allegedly getting into two
accidents. before they left the scene, she asked to grab her flip-flops out of her car. while they were doing that -- >> is it back here or did you eat it? >> when i review the video i'm not going to see you reaching in here and ingesting the mar inin marijuana? >> she's now facing felony charges. officials in lebanon are investigating after an explosion near an army checkpoint. at least five people were injured in that attack officials believe was caused by a car bomb. there was another explosion near a cafe in southern beirut where people were gathering to watch the world cup. on the crisis in ukraine this morning, president obama and russian president vladimir putin are talking again. the two leaders spoke by phone yesterday. the white house said president obama urged putin to stop supporting pro-russian
separatists in ukraine and the flow of arms across the border. insurgents in eastern ukraine say they will honor a cease-fire declared by ukraine's president and backed by putin. check this out. this is herdsmen in turkey strapping solar panels to donkeys. it generates enough electricity to the herdsmen can get the latest information on weather. the electricity is also used for light and they can charge cell phones with it. pizza delivery by drone. that's what a business in russia claims to be doing now. the pizza chain says it can deliver a pie by drone over the weekend. that doesn't seem very fast. some are doubting the accomplishment since the chain has staged publicity stunts in the past. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill
henley. >> a few clouds to start with this morning but they're not going to last all day. we'll see plenty of sunshine. you can see scattered clouds as we're getting closer to sunrise, the marquis de lafayette. cape may 63 degrees. it was in the upper 70s yesterday afternoon. it will be closer to the 80 degree mark today. boat house row, nice and quiet, was into the 80s. it will be a bit warmer with lots of sunshine and a few scattered clouds at times. no sign of any showers for today. that changes tomorrow. you can see scattered clouds, especially to the west. the clouds came through overnight. no sign of any showers, not until tomorrow when this line of clouds moves in and brings us more humidity as well. today the humidity will be in check. the temperatures, low to mid-80s this afternoon with partly to mostly sunny skies. south, southwesterly winds develop up to 12 miles an hour, helping to send our temperatures up during the day today. seven-day forecast, we've got changes ahead.

of people who attacked and robbed a child in philadelphia. three people in this video pushed a 13-year-old boy to the ground, pushed him, kicked him and stole his iphone. if you recognize any of these people, call philadelphia police. investigators are trying to track down a man in this photo here. they say he stole a woman's credit card and used it at several stores. the woman's wallet was snatched in center city. this man was caught on surveillance video using the woman's card at a wawa on delaware avenue and again at target on mifflin street. and the man in this surveillance video, a very clear image is wanted for holding up two grocery stores. the camera captured a good look at his face as he pulled a gun. the video was taking thursday inside the 56th street food market. a second robbery took place at jim's meat market on the 2 00 block of east clearfield street. no one was hurt in either
robbery. this is a newly released sketch of the suspect who tried to lure a boy to his car with candy. the boy's aunt was watching from inside. she ran out screaming when she saw what was happening and the man drove off. this from our south jersey bureau, eight people in camden county were able to return home last night after being evacuated because of a gas leak. skyforce 10 was over the scene there yesterday afternoon on marine court. a construction crew accidentally hit a gas line there. eight people were told to leave their homes. they have been allowed back after the leak was repaired. out of our delaware bureau now, there's a new place to stay in one shore town. while it's named after a popular brew, you can't buy beer there. the dogfish head inn is open in lewes, delaware.
